Design Example：CJ-D060A Leather Keychain
The goal of this product project is to create a leather keychain that is “distinct from commonly seen styles” on the market, thus establishing the direction of “asymmetric design” from the beginning. After a series of stylistic developments, the appearance took shape: a square design vocabulary, coupled with the asymmetrical setting of different materials on the left and right, attempting to create a modern look.
After trying various sizes and proportions, we honed in on the optimal ratio while maintaining visual balance. The hanger hole structure for attaching the keyring is distinctive yet not obtrusive. Consistently incorporating the same style into the keychain body, with neat grooves as visual separators, echoes the geometric theme.
With the design finalized, the next challenge is how to bring the product concept to life.
Common assembly methods leave protrusions on the surface. To maximize customization options while keeping the style unchanged, different techniques are required. We utilized a special internal structure design, allowing precise placement and effective bonding of the leather without any visible annoying glue traces on the exterior.
